ORGANIZATION: Alzheimers Association- CA Southland

TLD

The Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter is looking for Recruitment Volunteers to help us with our DIY-driven national signature event, The Longest Day. You are invited to join The Longest Day Recruitment Subcommittee where you will help to recruit businesses in the community and participants from clubs and organizations to participate in The Longest Day.

Responsibilities of Recruitment Volunteers include:

  • Recruiting, training, and leading Longest Day participants
  • Developing and implementing strategies to recruit new participants from corporations, organizations, facilities, schools, support groups, religious groups, etc.
  • Meeting and networking with key individuals within the community
  • Working with The Longest Day Committee Co-Chairs and Staff Partner to plan and execute the Participant Kickoff Party
The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. Between now and June 21, 2022 people across the world will come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through a fundraising activity of their choice.

Whether you're participating at home, online or in-person, we have plenty of fun ideas to engage family and friends in The Longest Day.

Mission Statement

To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health

Description

In 1979, Jerome H. Stone and representatives from several family support groups met with the National Institute on Aging to explore the value of a national, independent, nonprofit organization to complement federal efforts surrounding Alzheimer's disease. That meeting resulted in the April 10, 1980, formation of the Alzheimer's Association with Mr. Stone as founding president.

Today, the Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s across the globe through our national office and chapters in communities nationwide. We are the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
