Winter on the streets can be brutal, especially in Cleveland, which is why we need your help! Every Winter season, Malachi Center ensures that the homeless populations on the Near West Side of Cleveland have access to essential toiletries and winter gear by packaging and distributing winter gym bags or duffel bags full of supplies. We maintain our shower program weekly but recognize the need for additional supplies. We aim to distribute our winter gym bags to a starting goal of 100 homeless individuals in need. Help us meet our goal by collecting supplies, packaging your own kits, and dropping your donations off at Malachi Center.

We are collecting hats, gloves, scarves, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrushes and paste, granola bars, fruit snacks, tea/instant cocoa/coffee, peanut butter, oatmeal, undershirts (M-2Xl), underwear (M-2XL), blankets, emergency blankets, hand warmers, rain ponchos, messages of hope, gift cards to local restaurants, etc

Mission Statement

Empower the individual, nurture the family, and build the community.

Description

The community of Malachi Center has long served the need of the near West Side of Cleveland. As the surrounding neighborhood became poor, the church responded with Ministries such as the Backdoor Sandwich Ministry and Monday Night Meal. To better serve the needs of area families and children trying to break the cycle of poverty, the Parish and Community of Malachi founded Malachi Center in 1985.

Malachi Center was founded with a mission to nourish the spirit, mind, and body of the family and youth of Cleveland’s West Side. Since its inception, Malachi Center has stayed true to that mission. The philosophy of Malachi Center is to assist individuals with filling physical needs as well as coal and emotional growth. The center views each individual as a whole person. The initial need that draws a person to Malachi Center is used as an entry point. Over time, people become connected to one another and the our community. This community serves as an extended family and provides one another with support and encouragement. The center strives to empower individuals to overcame the everyday challenges they face.
