WHAS CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN INC

  • 3 people are interested

The Crusade Engagement Council, the young professionals board of the WHAS Crusade for Children, is planning an exciting new event, Oktoberfest 2022. This event will feature numerous local breweries, live music, an auction and more on October 15, 2022 at Mellwood Arts Center. All funds raised will go to the Crusade, which funds programs that improve outcomes for local children with special needs. The CEC is recruiting young professionals interested in volunteering to plan this event, including but not limited to assisting with sponsorships, securing auction items, helping with social media strategy/marketing and more.

Meetings will be held once a month, virtually, at first. We will move to in-person meetings closer to the date of the event (if deemed safe).

Mission Statement

The WHAS Crusade for Children raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to make life better for children with special needs across Kentucky and Indiana.

Description

Since 1954, the Crusade has raised more than $184 million to support agencies, schools and hospitals that serve children with medical, physical, mental and emotional needs. Thanks to generous contributions of goods and services, the Crusade is able to return 100 percent of all donations to organizations in all 120 Kentucky counties and more than 50 southern Indiana counties. Fire departments raise more than 50 percent of the money each year by staging road blocks and other events.

An independent board decides
An independent board of interdenominational ministers known as the Crusade Advisory Panel decides how donations are distributed each year.

Agencies apply for grants
Representatives from agencies, schools and hospitals apply for grants and appear before the panel during grant hearings held each spring. Once the hearings are complete, the advisory panel determines which agencies receive Crusade donations.
