The work of the Treasurer ensures we maintain our books, income statements, balance sheets and the legal requirements associated with our status as a 501c3 non-profit organization. This documented track record helps to inspire the confidence of our donors while our fiscal responsibility allows us to continue to finance the programs and supports that we offer in the community. We are carving out the bookkeeping responsibility to the new role of Assistant to the Treasurer, a non-board position. Consider applying your skills within an organization targeted on supporting others and do the work from home.
This individual has the motivation and temperament to maintain meticulous bookkeeping and demonstrated familiarity with Excel and other administrative support software, including Word and scanning capabilities. Most weeks only a couple of hours are needed to keep the records and correspondence in good order. Some weeks a few more hours are necessary. Our current Treasurer will be available for training and easily accessible for questions/clarification.
The Assistant to the Treasurer will contribute to maintaining the books for NAMI Central Middlesex, following the format of an existing Excel spreadsheet. Specific tasks to be completed include:
Sustain at least weekly communication, most often via email, with the Treasurer to receive income and expenditure information for bookkeeping entry.
Maintain, at least weekly, recording of income and expenditures so that the Treasurer can refer to the spreadsheet to find the financial status of NAMI Central Middlesex whenever needed.
Complete the occasional correspondence of the Treasurer which includes thank you and tax record letter to donors, and letters to accompany donations from NAMI Central Middlesex.
Eventually, this position may assume the responsibility for completing the state required documentation for 501c3 status.
