DESCRIPTION:Tet in Boston is an annual Vietnamese Lunar New Year Festival organized by the Vietnamese American Community of Massachusetts (VACMA) and the New England Intercollegiate Vietnamese Student Association (NEIVSA) that attracts upwards of 10,000 attendees throughout the day and more than 140 vendors. This year it will be held at Flynn Cruiseport Terminal on February 6th, 2022 (Sunday). This event aims to celebrate the Lunar New Year, preserve and promote Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American culture, raise funds to support educational and cultural programs, and provide an opportunity for youth involvement.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: Event volunteers assist on the day prior to the event (Sat, Feb 5) and event day (Sun, Feb 6) for set-up, guest assistance and registration or clean up. Volunteers may also choose to be involved in event planning.
SUPPORT PLAN: Event volunteers work under the direction of various members of the event staff or other volunteers, who will provide task-specific training.
TIME COMMITMENT: Volunteers will typically be asked to commit at least 2-3 hours. Participation on an event planning committee typically requires larger time commitments over several months.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: Depends on tasks.
BENEFITS: Volunteers may be able to attend the event free of charge. All Tet in Boston volunteers are invited to Tet in Boston's Annual Appreciation Dinner, and receive community service credit. Event volunteers also have the opportunity to learn new skills from professionals, meet others in the community, while promoting Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American culture.
