Candace's Pack Dog Rescue is in need of volunteers who are interested in diving deeper into dog psychology and behavior. Why dogs do the things they do, what are dog "drives"?, What are purposes of dog training tools? Common mistakes dog owners (lovers) make, why calm and confident leadership is important, what's the deal with so much structure? And the intricacies of body language and safe socialization are just some of the educational things you’d be learning during your time on the Candace's Pack Dog Rescue Volunteer Dream Team. Yes, my volunteers are considered my dream team because I dreamt up the rescue operations but I need people to help me carry out our mission.

There are multiple shift times available, you are more than welcome to do as many or as little as you like. I appreciate all the help I can get. The more people I have to help, the more fulfillment the dogs will get during their time in our program. With consistent help, I can also have more shelter dogs in our facility.

The volunteer shift times are: Monday - Sunday: 7am, 12pm, 5pm & 10pm
These times correlate with the dog's outing and training times.

The shifts will be a mix of being on your own and training with me (JP Mendoza, Founder & Trainer)

These duties are in exchange for the hands on, live education you will receive...

- Dog outings (bathroom, sun light time and walks)
- Dog feedings: breakfast 7am, dinner 5pm
- Giving medications
- Crate cleanings
- Vacuuming
- assisting during training sessions
- assisting in supervision of dog socials
- reliably covering shifts unsupervised
- raw meat food portioning
- eventually becoming proficient to train dogs on your own

I am also willing to write recommendation letters or anything needed for credits if you're a college student.

All ages are welcomed but must be accompanied by an adult. Adults only for night shifts.

Thank you so much for considering volunteering at Candace's Pack Dog Rescue!

Mission Statement

We will rescue shelter dogs with 3 core principles: Physically, Mentally and Permanently. We physically rescue dogs from shelters with high euthanasia rates. We mentally fulfill them using dog psychology based exercise, mental stimulation and affection. Our goal is to educate the public on dog behavior and psychology, making permanent life long matches between dogs and humans. We will strive to educate volunteers, dog owners and adopters about dog behavior and relationship building. We will practice calm and confident leadership so that all dogs in our rescue program can be living examples of what can happen when you give a dog a second chance. Our goal at Candace's Pack Dog Rescue is quality adoptions over quantity. For our complete mission statement please visit our website www.cpackdogrescue.org

Description

On October 19th, 2014, we rescued an anxious and timid dog named Candace. We adopted her from an online rescue site, so we never got the chance to meet her beforehand. Leading up to adoption day, in my mind, she was the classic happy go lucky dog that would play fetch with me all day long. Reality ended up being very different from the way I had imagined. Her fearful nature inspired me to learn as much as I could about natural dog behavior. Trust, patience, conquering fears and paying attention to my own energy are the most important lessons I've learned from her. Seeing Candace's progress over the years has inspired me to rehabilitate other fearful and unbalanced dogs and help them find FURever homes.

When I founded the organization in 2020, countless hours were spent planning the logistics of the operation. What I didn’t realize is how much I need a team of dedicated people to help me carry out our mission. The more team members I can educate, the better quality of life the dogs at our facility will have. The more team members I have on hand, the more shelter dogs we can save. My goal is for our rescue dogs to have the most fulfilling, structured daily schedule they can possibly have no matter who is providing the training and care. Candace's Pack Dog Rescue is my dream, so my volunteers are literally my dream team!
