There is nothing more lonely than being elderly, poor, isolated and in poor health. Your older neighbors need your help today to access their medical care. We know that race and income are strongly correlated to health outcomes, and we are working every day to reduce the barriers experienced by needy seniors in obtaining their preventive care. The biggest obstacle to timely health care, for seniors, is the lack of transportation. Our trained, caring and insured volunteers drive our clients to their appointments and help them stay healthy - and out of institutional care - as long as possible.
You will get "more than you give" when you experience the satisfaction of helping a deserving older person get her care. You might be the only personal contact a senior has in a whole week, with someone who is with her by choice. We provide rides but so much more - warm contact, care for people going through lonely things, and a chance to "pay it forward." We're all going to "be there" someday, and how nice it is to be there for our friends in need today.
Volunteering with IVCG is fun and easy, and we have our scheduling down to a science. You choose who you drive, when and where. Our interactive volunteer software and data-base make it simple, and warm friendships make it rewarding. Help us provide practical help to address the real social problems of racial and economic injustice - and meet some great people too!
