Your senior neighbors need help getting access to nutrition services! JABA works to bridge food inequity gaps by providing access to healthy food, and volunteers are needed to help make this possible.
Volunteer Options Include:
- Deliver emergency food boxes for seniors to have on hand (Albemarle).
- Transport meals to community centers on Wednesday & Thursday mornings (Charlottesville City to Greene County).
- Assist seniors shopping in-store (current need Charlottesville, waitlist other counties).
- Curbside Pickup/Deliver groceries to seniors (current need Charlottesville, waitlist other counties).

COVID-19 Impact:
Due to the pandemic, seniors may struggle to get their groceries in-store and/or find it especially difficult to have help while shopping. Volunteers make it possible for seniors to age in their place of choice.

Description
For almost 50 years, JABA has provided a variety of services to help seniors remain as healthy, active, and independent as possible. Programs include information and referral, education and advocacy, and direct services such as adult care centers, community centers, senior meal programs, care coordinators, health care and health promotion programs, health insurance counseling, volunteer and employment opportunities, and conflict resolution for people in nursing homes and other long-term health care settings. Jaba believes that aging is a lifelong process, which is most successfully done in intergenerational communities.
