Adoption Volunteer - Friday

Making Dallas a No-Kill city is a big job and as a volunteer-based organization, we need a lot of great volunteers to do it. As a Foster Application Vetter, you'll conduct professional interviews with those who have applied to foster our animals. This is key to making sure the fostering arrangement is the right fit for the individual, the organization and most importantly - the pet!

TEAM: Foster

REPORTS TO: This position reports to the Foster Vetter Team Lead, the Foster Director, and VP of Animal Operations.

WORKS WITH: Will have regular and continuous contact virtually or over the phone with team leaders, potential foster parents, and other volunteers. Contacts with others will require tactful exchanges and a positive, professional demeanor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cold call applicants generated via email or from events to invite them to foster
• Respond to all when they are able to take an interview so the rest of the team is aware of which applications still need attention and which are covered
• Use the provided questionnaire to conduct professional interviews of applicants within 24 hours of the application’s submittal
• Input data from the questionnaire into the appropriate area in Shelterluv database
• Report findings to the team so further action may be taken in sending out welcome email when applications have been approved
• Decline foster offers when needed
• Assist with any other duties needed to help drive Dallas Pets Alive!’s mission and support our values

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
• Must be a high school graduate with prior foster experience
• Ability to work virtually (phone, email). Must be able to access to the internet at least 1 day per week
• Must be moderately proficient in use of a computer
• Must be comfortable in cold calling applicants and conducting professional interviews on behalf of Dallas Pets Alive!.
• Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare

• Excellent oral and written communication skills to maintain professional level correspondence at all times
• A motivational, can-do attitude to represent Dallas Pets Alive! in a positive manner to our supporters and the general public
• A problem-solving mindset to handle and diffuse challenging situations in a professional manner
• A love for animals and dedication to the cause of animal welfare

TIME COMMITMENT: 5 hours per week.
