Communications Assistant / English-to-Haitian-Creole Translations (Virtual)

Task Background and Objectives:
The Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter is seeking a volunteer who is experienced in developing promotional materials, for use in Alzheimer’s and dementia education, care and support services.

Duties / Responsibilities:
The Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter is seeking volunteers who are experienced in English-to-Haitian-Creole translation who will:

  • Produce and edit copy, and other content elements across various digital, social, print, and meeting/presentation audiences, in support of organizational diversity & inclusion initiatives.
  • Frequency and duration of projects will vary based on need.

Experience/Education Requirements:
* Experience as an English-to- Haitian-Creole translator:

  1. Please provide one example of translation from English-to- Haitian-Creole
  2. Contact info of 2 referees with other organizations
  3. Bachelor degree or above
  4. Haitian-Creole native or near-native speaker
  5. Proofreading skills (attention to detail)
  • Experience with project management, file sharing software, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong administrative skills (e.g., detail orientation, good time management, and overall organization).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (i.e., written and verbal), as well as strong technical skills, including Google and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, to coordinate projects, and possess a strong work ethic.
Background Check:
In order to be a volunteer with Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter, each candidate is required to successfully pass a criminal background check prior to beginning their service.


Commitment Expected:
15-20 hours per month (may vary depending upon project).
