Start Date: Upon the successful completion of Background Check
Board Meetings are held quarterly in March, June, September, and December.
Volunteer Position
: Roughly 6-10 hours per month.

​POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Volunteer Board Member will assist in policy development and direction of the organization as a Board Member with partial voting rights. The Member at Large votes on board matters when another member is absent, abstains from voting due to a conflict of interest, or when necessary to ensure there remains a quorum on voting issues. Board Members are expected to participate in regular organization functions and help spread the organization's mission through regular public interaction. The position is critical to the operation of the organization and does require applicants to undergo a criminal history screening before beginning any official duties as the position requires the individual to interact with vulnerable populations.

  • Good understanding of the scientific method and processes involved in STEM education.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Executive Director, Business Manager, and Board of Directors to execute both the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Provide sound judgment in guiding the organization through fundraising and program initiatives.
  • Inspire staff, members, participants, and the community to spread our mission.
  • Be a resource for best practices, new ideas, and strong execution of shared goals.
  • Foster the next generation of our scientific community through leadership development, value training, personal/professional development, and service-learning.

G.E.M. Environmental works with government agencies to conserve public lands through data collection, environmental monitoring/maintenance, and remediation/site clean-up.

Our mission is to create an avenue for the advancement of underrepresented students of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) programs into industry careers by providing cross training in Geo-science fields.
