ORGANIZATION: DRIVE A SENIOR CENTRAL TEXAS dba Chariot

Chariot volunteer drivers use their own cars to provide transportation to seniors in their community to medical appointments, grocery stores, hair appointments, pharmacies, banks, activity centers, support groups, and other errands. Chariot serves South Austin, Southwest Austin, Lakeway, northern Hays County and Elgin.Typically a round trip takes 2-3 hours; a one-way drop off is about an hour.

VOLUNTEER DRIVING IS EASY!

  • Minimum requirement is 1 drive per month (Most volunteers enjoy the experience and do more!)
  • Drivers select rides to fit their own schedules
  • Rides can be set up by phone or email
  • Family members of any age are encouraged to ride along

Mission Statement

Drive a Senior Central Texas DBA Chariot enriches lives and communities by providing transportation and socialization to non-driving older adults, helping them to age in place.

Description

Chariot helps seniors live healthy, active, safe and fulfilling lives while staying in their own residences as long as possible. We provide free transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, businesses and services. We serve older adults, 60 and older, who no longer drive. Our clients include low income individuals, non-English speakers, veterans and seniors with disabilities.
