We are a small, all-volunteer non-profit with a mission to increase access to restrooms in the United States and beyond. We work with communities to design and implement new restroom/hygiene facilities to be accessed by all. We also educate on how to be prepared to manage sanitation in the case of an emergency (i.e. an earthquake that breaks sewer pipes).

This opportunity is for someone to attend our board meetings and take notes/meeting minutes. The notes can be general (no need to be verbatim). This volunteer would be welcome to engage and contribute to our meeting as well. If you care about restrooms, this opportunity is for you!

About PUBLIC HYGIENE LETS US STAY HUMAN

Location:

1240 W SIMS WAY, PORT TOWNSEND, WA 98368, US

Mission Statement

Through education and advocacy, PHLUSH helps local governments and citizen groups to provide equitable public restroom availability and to prepare for a pipe-breaking seismic event with appropriate ecological toilet systems.

Description

PHLUSH began in 2005 when it recognized the need for better restroom access in Portland. Since then, it has assisted in the development of the Portland Loo, advocated successfully for more gender-neutral facilities, pushed for the eventual adoption of the twin bucket system in case of an emergency that destroys sewer infrastructure, and many other sanitation related achievements. PHLUSH has an advocate network that expands nationwide and is one of only a handful of organizations in America advocating for better public sanitation.
