We are looking for passionate and energetic native speakers who would like to share their language and culture! By joining us at the Global Language Network as a Teaching Fellow, you will be on the forefront of delivering affordable language classes with the mission of using language as a tool to help fix our world. Due to Covid-19, all our classes are online for the time being, so we are accepting applications from everywhere in the world!

Essential Duties:

- Prepare and deliver daily lesson plans

- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities

- Provide a variety of learning materials for use in educational activities

- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development

- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development

- Manage student behavior in the classroom


- 2-hour class sessions once a week

- Class time will range at any time between 5:30 to 9:30 pm EST on weekdays and 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sundays.

- Choose between 6-week or 12-week semesters, but we are sure that you will want to stay longer than that!


- Fluency in the language you will be teaching

- Willing to dedicate 2-3 hours a week

- Consistent access to computer with reliable internet

- A computer with a camera or a webcam

- Enjoy sharing your language and culture with others

- A positive attitude!

- Teaching experience in a live environment

- Free language classes of your choosing

Mission Statement

The Global Language Network (GLN) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization founded by Andrew Brown in 2005 whose mission is to provide opportunities to learn any language at a minimal cost. We recruit and train native speakers who volunteer their time to teach their language and share their culture with the DC community. Our affordable classes in 62 different languages build learners' communicative competence and enable them to communicate with others in meaningful and culturally appropriate ways.


GLN makes language learning easy, enjoyable and effective: we create a comfortable environment where students have direct experiences with the target language and culture. We engage them and build their competence and confidence to communicate with others in meaningful and appropriate ways.

GLN teaches language through culture and culture through language because by studying languages people gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures that use that language, and in fact, cannot truly master the language until having also mastered the cultural contexts in which the language occurs.
