Who

CRi, Choice. Respect. independence. (formerly known as Community Residences, Inc.), is a community-based organization with a focused effort on providing people with developmental disabilities and/or mental health needs the resources, supports and services they need to live their lives with purpose, actively engaged in communities of their choosing. CRi’s mission fully supports a person’s ability to exercise control of their life’s choices, and to live in and contribute to communities of their choosing, as young adults through aging in place. We believe in serving individuals within the communities in which they live & supporting the individual’s choices and independence.

Why?

Everyone loves the joy of the holidays! A chance for something other than the ordinary. And what better to mix up daily life than a change of scenery in the form holiday decorations to create a Winter Wonderland? For CRi group homes, decorations would only be acquired by programs if they were donated by a staff or family member, even then the quality of the items may vary depending on how old the donations are. Additionally, it is up to the staff to hang and take down the decorations if they can find time while doing their normal duties. Participating in the holiday spirit is a great way to engage in inclusivity and build community while bringing joy to residents, staff, and neighbors.

Project Description

Come join us to bring the holiday spirit to our Nicolet home! Volunteers are needed put up decorations around the exterior of the house. Decorations can be homemade or purchased, we just ask that they are able to withstand the weather for the duration of the holiday month. While third parties are not allowed inside the homes, decorations can be made and given to staff to hang indoors.

As you select what decorations to bring, please keep in mind that commercial holiday decorations are welcome such as string lights, Santa, ornaments, and Christmas trees, but please refrain from specifically religious decorations to respect the beliefs of the residents. String lights are a HUGE hit with residents in all of our group homes!
