Bright Mind Enrichment is a community wellness 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to helping individuals thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our newest project is Vaccination Rewards, a unique tool to help people during the pandemic. We also recently launched a community wellness initiative, Street Care, focused on helping vulnerable populations through our deployable online and on-the-streets outreach program approach. For Street Care, we have developed an app road-mapped to provide volunteers with background context, how-to videos, and interactive functionality -- to enable anyone to feel prepared to go out and help homeless people safely and effectively. we have extensive organizational materials that we have developed and tech projects (e.g., at streetcare.us); BME standard systems; and more. Our team members have longstanding relationships throughout the non-profit community and across sectors; deep experience in non-profit and tech work; and broad multi-platform experience. Job Description

Bright Mind Enrichment (BME) seeks technical app support. If you have expertise, are a self-starter, or are just starting out, we welcome you to apply (we can fit our work to fit different people who have the volunteer spirit!). We have expanded into new areas in our work with the most vulnerable populations (notably via our streetcare.us initiative, and a new micro-school project), and we are taking on new volunteers.

We are looking for a mobile app developer who welcomes both engineering and maintenance tasks. The primary focus will be to implement new user interfaces and features together with automated unit and integration tests. You will be working with our collaborative team, where your knowledge and advice about application architecture and the newest mobile technologies will be highly appreciated. You’ll help ensure solid application performance and an excellent user experience.

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Developing new features and user interfaces from wireframe models.
  • Responsible for development of native mobile apps for iOS and Android platform.
  • Fixing bugs and performance problems
  • Writing clean, readable, and testable code
  • Cooperating with back-end developers, designers, and the rest of the team to deliver well-architected and high-quality solutions
  • Familiarity with the Android SDK, Activity and Fragment lifecycles, threading, custom views, and animations
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and mobile libraries for networking.
  • Experience with HTML5 and CSS3
  • Familiarity with the Vue.js ecosystem, Vue.js framework and it’s core understanding.
  • Familiarity with the JSON format.
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Proficiency in JAVA/JavaScript/Kotlin/Swift/C#.
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns-MVP, MVC, MVVM, and Clean Architecture-and the ability to choose the best solution for the app
  • Management of database (Firestore) to update app content.
  • Design, write, test, and deploy production-ready code.

Bright Mind is a community wellness education organization.
Bright Mind recently launched Street Care, a massive initiative built by our homelessness and wellness experts, 'your toolkit to help homeless people.' We have an app, an expanding series of informational materials and instructional videos (25+ already), and more (at streetcare.us). We are pioneering an online and on-the-streets outreach approach, accessible to everyone.
