Volunteers needed to make Christmas gift baskets for our patients at Brookdale Hospice! This is a wonderful opportunity to brighten up the Holiday season for those nearing end of life. It has been a difficult year with COVID restrictions increasing isolation for many, and we want to show our patients and their families that they are the furthest thing from alone. We would love for you to help us in doing so! Feel free to make your own basket, or get your group of friends and family together to help!
For more information- including things to consider (as certain rules need to be followed), etc. please email or call our office at 248-727-2323. Baskets can be dropped off at our office if scheduled prior, or one of our team members can pick up!
**Note please do not make a basket prior to contacting.

Mission Statement

Brookdale Senior Living's Mission Statement is: Enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity. Our Philosophy of Hospice is: * providing sensitivity and support for people and their families in the final phases of a terminal illness * enabling patients to carry on an alert, pain free life and to manage other symptoms so that they may have dignity, comfort and quality * recognizing dying as a natural part of life Hospice affirms life, neither hastening nor postponing death. Hospice is about living life to the fullest with dignity and comfort. Volunteers are an integral part, and are a fully integrated component, of our Brookdale hospice teams. Volunteering is more about BEING than DOING - it's about listening and offering support to our patients - it's about helping them tell their story.

Our hospice agency in Southfield Michigan is part of Brookdale's team of 21 hospice agencies nationwide.

Our Goals of Hospice are: self-determined life closure; a natural death; safe and comfortable dying; effective grieving.

Our Hospice Principles include: treating the whole person (physical, emotional, spiritual); emphasis on quality of life, not length of life; considering the family as the unit of care.
