PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) operating in Fort Portal, Kabarole, Rwenzori region of Western Uganda advocating for the protection and promotion of the rights of children, youth and women is seeking for passionate, caring and committed interns and Volunteers to conduct Virtual /Online Fundraising for the (105) Teenage Mothers Project.
The funds raised will be used to create more awareness on the rampant teenage pregnancies and early marriages through conducting radio talkshows and community outreaches and counseling support. The funds will also be sued to train the teen mothers engage in income generating projects to help them increase household income so that they can support the education and nutritional needs of their children.
Covid 19 pandemic has had a huge negative impact on the lives of thousands of Ugandans who have dropped out of school due to teenage pregnancies and early marriage. The country has had over 320,300 girls pregnant according to statistics and research conducted by World Vision.
This opportunity suits the intern students or fresh graduates or even volunteers with good background of passion and fundraising skills.
The opportunity requires some one to be passionate, caring, humanitarian, an activist , committed, sacrificing, giving back in kind or monetary .
The candidate should be willing to work remotely because of covid 19 travel restrictions but any time the situation normalizes, he/she is free to visit the organization to assess and evaluate the progress and impact of his/her project.
The candidate should be willing to mobilize more volunteers or people to become ambassadors of the Teen Mothers in Uganda.
Have the knowledge and skills of Computer, IT , Social media marketing, PR, writing and communication skills,networking and collaboration .

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is a charity Non Governmental Organization registered , protecting and promoting the rights of rights of children, youth and women. PLANE operates in Fort Portal City ,Kabarole district, Rwenzori region of Western Uganda . It aims at undertaking collective action for promotion of general health and reproductive health awareness campaigns on Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV),Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHT) and access for social and health services.
Our focus areas include social security, education for needy and orphan children, health, youth and Women Empowerment, Livelihood, Human Rights , Water, Sanitation and hygiene and Environment conservation and protection.
In 2018, PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) scoped an award from Kabarole District Local Government for out outstanding performance in creating awareness using radio drama and community outreaches to fight Domestic Violence and controlling Malaria infections in the district. This project was implemented in communities and schools in the districts of Kabarole and Bunyangabu. We have also taken a lead in the region in mobilizing resources and launching campaigns for sick people with Heart diseases and multiple organ failures who seek funding for treatment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 14
  • 2 hours weekly
  • Atleast a Bachelors degree for the recent graduates, be a student in a university or college or having a background in similar field of social work , marketing and communication or an experience in mobilizing and serving youth and needy communities.
