The Advocacy Committee of the Colorado Center for Aging is one of the most important and long-standing components of CCA; its function to do research on and advocacy for legislation touching the varying issues facing older adults in Colorado. The research is done by subgroups (ACSs) which are topically-based; those findings culminating in group discussions and member-voting to determine CCA’s official positions.

It is the job of the Advocacy Committee Coordinator to maintain rosters of subteams and their members, to facilitate communication within and between them, to train new subgroup members as to what participation entails (tech-tools used, processes; and potentially train new members on how to research legislative issues), and to otherwise help the AC and ACSs reach their goals of producing and communicating their findings for the CCA members.
