ORGANIZATION: APLA Health & Wellness

Quick Overview: A few hours of your donated time is vital for us to distribute grocery bags to our APLA Health clients.

Impact: APLA Health's Vance North Necessities of Life Program (NOLP) started as a food voucher program in 1986 and has since become the nation's largest network of food pantries for people with HIV/AIDS. It is currently operating out of eight locations throughout Los Angeles County. Clients of NOLP receive pre-bagged groceries that include fresh dairy, frozen meats, fresh produce, and an assortment of canned and dry goods, as well as hygiene items and cleaning supplies. NOLP clients also receive bilingual, one-on-one nutritional counseling and nutrition classes. NOLP provides groceries to over 1,700 clients who live on a limited income.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: We welcome volunteers to help us load grocery bags with fresh produce, frozen meats, dry goods or hygiene items and distribute to our APLA Health clients.

Additional Details: We are always looking for volunteers to dedicate time at or food pantry, NOLP. The Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the David Geffen Center located at 611 S. Kingsley Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90005. We welcome a half day or full day of service!

*Dress Code* - Please dress in comfortable clothing, such as jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. No tank tops or tight clothing. All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.

Covid-19 Requirements:

On August 5, 2021, the State of California Department of Public Health issued a vaccine requirement for all workers in healthcare facilities. This requirement applies to all employees and volunteers at APLA Health & Wellness.

In response, we are requiring that all volunteers provide proof of vaccination before your volunteer day by emailing a copy to JHarris@apla.org and bring proof with you day of event to verify with on-site staff. Those without a vaccine card will not be permitted to volunteer.

Thank you for your cooperation.
