Help get newly arrived refugee children enroll for school in Dekalb County! This volunteer will:
- Assisting with school registration for arriving refugee families
- Completing online new student registrations
- Uploading family documentation
- Transporting families to and from assessment testing location
- Taking family to assigned schools to complete in-person registration
- Delivering school supplies to the family
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong computer/technology skills
- Interest in working with diverse populations
- Sensitivity to vulnerable populations
- Excellent spoken English language skills
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Openness to feedback provided by peers and supervisor(s)
- Must be flexible
- Have resources and ability to conduct work remotely (computer, WiFi, etc.)
- Have reliable transportation and meet insurance coverage minimums (at least $100,000 per person / $300,000 per incident) in order to transport clients
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Bilingual: Arabic, Dari, or Swahili preferred
