Experienced Medical and/or Hospice Cat Fosters

St. Louis Pet Rescue

St. Louis Pet Rescue was founded in 2009. We are the safety net for the pets we adopt out. When an owner dies without a backup plan, can’t afford their pet or simply doesn’t want it, we take them back so they do not end up in animal control only to be euthanized. Often these pets come back with medical issues that the average pet foster is not able to handle. Sometimes too we happen upon a severely injured, sick or neglected animal that desperately needs our help like the kitten pictured.

We need experienced fosters to help with these returns and new intakes. We’re looking for nurses, vet techs, people with hands on experience with human medical issues or pet owners who have or had special needs pets to foster these pets. The pets’ issues may be as simple as giving prescribed medication or after surgery care. Others may need more complicated treatments. Vet check-ups and problem solving may also be needed. Some of these pets may need hospice. These fostering opportunities are usually long term as it is harder to get special needs pets adopted. Over the years the vast majority of our adoptions have been cats. Therefore our greatest need is for cat medical fosters. All costs are covered and supplies provided.

Mission Statement

St. Louis Pet Rescue is a non-profit rescue group focusing on saving pets from local animal control facilities and neglect situations. STLPR strives to end pet overpopulation and dumping of unwanted pets through education about spaying/neutering, training and responsible pet ownership..

All of the pets STLPR rescues are in loving foster homes. Foster homes provide love, care and training needs of the pets. STLPR does not have a facility, nor any paid staff. STLPR relies on the generosity of people who volunteer their time to help pets in need.
