Kindred Hospice-Portland

Image_202110221308

Our purpose is to provide comfort, compassion, dignity, and peace to terminally ill patients and their families through a holistic approach to physical, spiritual, and emotional care by professionally trained hospice teams and specialized community resources. Our volunteers are a part of that team.

The Reiki Volunteer serves as an additional support to patients, families and caregivers by performing
Reiki to facilitate the body’s "relaxation response". Provision of Reiki may promote a reduction in
anxiety, muscle tension, or pain, and can promote wellness and a greater sense of well‐being. The Reiki
volunteer may only perform Reiki to the head, neck, shoulders, arms and below the groin. Visits may
occur in the patient’s home or in a professional care setting.

If you are searching for a way to make a difference in the lives of others, you belong here. Hospice volunteers are a valuable part of our care team. Based on your interests and preferences, receive specific volunteer training to help improve the quality of life for others. From providing companionship at a patient’s bedside, to running errands, and from assisting with administrative duties to creating gifts for patients and their families, one of our volunteer coordinators will help you discover the best fit for you. Our agencies offer veteran-to-veteran opportunities and participate in the national We Honor Veterans programs.
