Become a Hospice Volunteer - You Belong Here!
Our volunteers are a part of the team.
The volunteer’s role in hospice care includes patient/family and /or administrative support. Volunteers can provide direct support in the patient’s home or a nursing facility with the purpose of companionship and /or caregiver relief. Some volunteers help the family/patient celebrate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Administrative volunteers primarily work in our hospice office filing and /or assisting with mailings.
Vigil Volunteers have an important role offering companionship, comfort, and presence to patients and their families during the time immediately prior to death. Support can be provided to patients who have no family to be with them or to provide support and guidance to families and caregivers, helping relieve the unknown, this may also include facility staff if patient resides in a nursing or assisted living home. Support is provided in various ways, including talking and listening as well as sharing silence.
