This is an educational effort to provide engagement about online safety. Since the onset of Covid, more youth are online, whether for education, gaming, social media, etc

We need volunteers to assist in contacting schools and corporate sponsors to ensure the success of this event. The next two weeks are critical and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Mission Statement

Necessities for Children (NFC) has a mission to serve youth through STEM education and essential youth development for college and career readiness, with a specific focus on cyber safety & cybersecurity. Our mission is emboldened by partnerships with similarly aligned organizations, syncing our efforts to maximize student outcomes; ultimately, using engaging and meaningful education to bridge the opportunity gap.

Description

Sarah deBoer-Hjort (President): This non profit started as a vision over 15 years ago and almost 3 years ago, established as a 501c3. In 2011, my twin sister and I went to Kenya as part of a medical team and I was forever changed by the impact of seeing children in such poverty. In early 2015, while awaiting IRS approval on our non-profit application, I applied for a 10-week teaching internship in Kenya (with the same organization we had previously served).

Fast forward to 2018, we changed our name to Necessities For Children and focused on gaining capacity to fill a defined gap in K-12 STEM education. As of 2022, we have further honed our focus to be on Cyber Safety & Cybersecurity. Our goal is to facilitate a national Cyber Safety Day annually and implement an 8-week Cyber Safety & Cybersecurity Certificate program to middle & high schools across the USA.
