This is an educational effort to provide engagement about online safety. Since the onset of Covid, more youth are online, whether for education, gaming, social media, etc

We need volunteers to assist in contacting schools and corporate sponsors to ensure the success of this event. The next two weeks are critical and your support would be greatly appreciated.

About Necessities for Children

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide significant, potentially life-saving intervention for homeless, hungry, and struggling children. We aim to foster global partnerships through networking to enrich, support, and enhance the lives of disadvantaged children and communities through mentoring, initiatives, raising awareness, and providing tangible assistance to increase individual abilities to become self-sustaining. Simultaneously providing needed food, shelter, clothing and education, we will help prepare affected children for a future that does not include hunger and want.

Sarah deBoer-Hjort (President): This non profit started as a vision over 15 years ago and almost 3 years ago, established as a 501c3. In 2011, my twin sister and I went to Kenya as part of a medical team and I was forever changed by the impact of seeing children in such poverty. In early 2015, while awaiting IRS approval on our non-profit application, I applied for a 10-week teaching internship in Kenya (with the same organization we had previously served). Fast forward to 2018 and we are ready to put 110% effort to get Growing Green Growing People off the ground. Although majority of the work has been started by work through personal volunteer trips to Kenya, our goal is to partner with organizations in the USA, Canada and other countries as well where there are children in desperate need. I've recently resigned from my corporate career to help make this a reality. As the organization is in its beginning stages, we envision the primary objectives of this corporation to be:

  1. To provide disadvantaged children with opportunities for growth so that they may become independent citizens and self-sustaining
  2. Provide basic necessities and access to medical care for those children who have no way of getting it without intervention.
  3. Assist disadvantaged children and families, schools, and community programs to develop and implement self-sustaining educational programs
Thanks in advance for your interest, consideration and support.
