Dancing With the Stats

Adam’s House is looking for energetic and passionate individuals to join our 2022 'Dancing With the Stars’ (DWTS) Committee. DWTS is a dazzling evening when local community leaders team up with professional dancers with their routines from waltz to hip hop, jazz to salsa, and everything in between. The night includes dinner, drinks, dancing, entertainment, silent auction and raffle and all proceeds go to fund our 'Helping Hearts Heal’ peer support programs for grieving CT children and their families.

Volunteer committee members partner with Adam’s House staff to ensure that the event meets its financial and community engagement goals.

Committee member's responsibilities may include:

  • Attending regular committee meetings
  • Participant recruitment and outreach
  • Soliciting sponsorships and donations: financial and in-kind
  • Soliciting auction and raffle items
  • Assisting with social media and communications
  • Sharing the mission of the Adam’s House
  • Coordinating with volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned and become available

The ideal people must be willing to commit several hours each month and not be skittish about asking for donations. The event is scheduled for October 14, 2022.

About Adam's House

Location:

241 Coram Ave., Shelton, CT 06484, US

Mission Statement

Adam’s House believes no child should ever grieve alone. Children deserve a supportive and understanding community to learn and explore their feelings of death and loss. All grief journeys are unique. Grief is a natural reaction to a loss of a loved one. Adam’s House will be a supportive partner in a child’s healing process.

Description

Adam’s House offers no-cost peer support education programs. These programs are designed to support a child, 3-18 years of age, through the death of a loved one. At Adam’s House, they learn they will not have to do it alone. Peer support has been studied and considered an effective model of support for grief.

Adam’s House uses a closed-ended education model. A closed group means that once the group members have been interviewed by our staff and cleared by our specialist partners, they begin the program together and end the program together. Families are offered the option of entering a program, but must commit to attending each week’s meeting of the eight-week program.
