How would you like to support your community while improving the quality of life and giving comfort and dignity to our patients and their families?
AccentCare Hospice is seeking patient care volunteers throughout Northeast Texas (Longview, Marshall, Jefferson, Gilmer and Tyler) to provide the gift of companionship and much needed caregiver relief to their loved ones. Hold a hand, lend and ear, run and errand, read a book or simply provide a comforting presence.
Many patients live alone and the volunteer is a much needed visitor for socialization and companionship. Volunteers come from all walks of life with differing ages, education and experiences. They provide compassion and emotional support during this "final journey" of our patients life.
Hospice volunteers experience a great deal of satisfaction from their service and the patients they visit. We do hope new volunteers will make a commitment and dedicate 3-4 hours per month. Direct Care volunteers serve in their communities or surrounding areas and we always work around personal and professional schedules.
So many patients and their families are forever changed by their hospice volunteer. Comprehensive hospice training and orientation is provided free of charge as well as ongoing support and education opportunities. Applicants who have experienced the death of a close friend or family member will not be eligible for training or placement for a period of 12 months following the death. Should you have any questions or need further information, please contact Shannon Trest, Volunteer Manager at 903-234-0943
