Our Veterans are Hero's, and as such, we are in need of heros that are willing to spend as little as 1 hour a month to as much time as you are willing with veterans that are currently on hospice services.
We also are looking for veterans that can assist in our Veteran Supporting Veterans Groups that are held in area long-term-care and assisted living facilities. As a veteran volunteer you would be assisting in these social meetings. programming, field trips, Salute Services etc.
Vets know vets best. Vets talk the same language and have a commonality of experiences.
If your looking for a new and rewarding mission in life to give back and to help other veterans, then our veteran patients need you. Be a HERO to a HERO.
Training and ongoing support provided.
No hands-on care involved.

About Southern Care hospice
Location:

Mission Statement
To provide compassionate care and extraordinary service to the patients and the families we serve.
Description
Southern Care Hospice takes hospice care to wherever the patient calls home. Our volunteers can choose from many areas of interest as a partner to our patients. Some volunteers are simply companions, offering friendly visits others are crafty. With additional provided training some are simply present at bedside with a patient that is actively departing this world but may not have a family of his/her own. Others choose to work behind the scene by assisting in the office with many tasks from answering the phone, filing, putting supplies together for the nurses etc. Military Veteran volunteers are always sought out to be paired with veterans that are on the end-of-life journey and to assist in the many veteran specific community activities that Southern Care Hospice supplies.
