ORGANIZATION: California Coalition for Youth

Outreach Volunteers will aid the California Coalition for Youth (CCY) and the California Youth Crisis Line (CYCL) in maintaining and expanding its online presence by assisting in marketing and promotional development, and attending community outreach events. As part of the Outreach Volunteer Team, members will engaging the public and inform our community of crucial resources that can be used to help combat youth homelessness and improve the lives of California’s youth. This position can be served remotely or in person (in accordance with COVID-19 regulations). All volunteers within the state of California are welcome, and volunteers in the Sacramento area are especially encouraged to apply.


Volunteer responsibilities:


Social Media


  • Assist in content creation for the CCY/CYCL’s social media.
  • Maintain a consistent posting schedule for online content.
  • Condense and disseminate important information/resources to the public via social channels.
  • Engage with the CCY/CYCL’s online community by answering questions and responding to comments.
  • Help form and maintain a media strategy as a team.
  • Track analytics to gauge strategy effectiveness.
  • Research relevant topics related to the CCY and its mission to incorporate into our content.

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist in the design and development of promotional materials.
  • Research relevant issues to include in our marketing.
  • Participate in the development of ad campaigns.
  • Help write and send electronic newsletters.


Outreach Events


  • Attend community events as part of the CCY/CYCL’s Outreach Team (in accordance with COVID 19 regulations and the volunteer's level of comfort).
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down promotional displays before and/or after an event.
  • Professionally represent and explain the CCY/CYCL’s goals, mission, and community work to event attendees.
  • Distribute outreach materials at events (SWAG).


Qualifications:


  • Valid California Driver’s License or other form of Identification
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to volunteer a minimum of 2 hours a week
  • Must attend an introductory Outreach Training
  • Must be able to volunteer from home (Laptop, computer, phone, tablet, etc.)
  • Strong written and/or verbal communication
  • Ability to work well in both an independent and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information regarding clients.
  • Experience with MS Office and Google Suite
  • Possess an interest in the California Coalition for Youth’s mission, California Youth Crisis Line, social justice, and/or youth advocacy in general.

Relevant Skill Sets (Not Required):

  • Graphic Design (Canva)
  • PR, Marketing, or Social Media Management (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.)**
  • Photography or Audio/Visual editing experience
  • Podcasting
  • Web development
  • Any creative experience**
  • Comfortable with handling data
