- Work in partnership with FAAS staff and Mentors to provide general care and daily enrichment activities for our canine guests, including:
- Kennel Cleaning
- Dog Walking
- Support staff in providing behavior modification and training
- Help staff monitor appearance, health and behavior
- Document interactions with dogs
- Take photos and videos of dogs to promote on FAAS social media accounts

Description
Through a unique public-private partnership, FAAS has managed the open-intake City of Alameda Animal Shelter since 2012. With innovative programs, community partnerships, and a passionate base of volunteers and donors, each year FAAS saves on average 97% of the nearly 1,000 lost, abandoned, and homeless animals who enter the city’s shelter. Readers of Alameda Magazine have recognized FAAS as the community’s Best Nonprofit Group for eight consecutive years.

- 2 hours a week/3 months minimum commitment.
- Physically able to kneel and bend over for short periods of time. Must be able to handle dogs that are 50+ pounds. Basic knowledge of dog behavior. Students age 14-16 yr old must volunteer with a parent or guardian.
