Kitchen Coordinator- Monday Kitchen

Our Monday Kitchen is looking for a Coordinator. This would entail overseeing the cooking and serving of meals once a week. Currently, the time frame is approximately 3-6pm; however, at some point in the future it will change to 3-7pm(once we go back to indoor seated serving as of right now we are still doing "to-go" meals). The coordinator will also need to keep track of the volunteer applications and contact information as well as attend Steering Committee meetings with all the coordinators from the other sites(this is usually once a month in the evening).
The coordinator will be working with and sharing the responsibilities with a Co-Coordinator.
We are looking for a long-term volunteer.
*All volunteers must be over 18 and fully vaccinated. Proof will initially be required*

Mission Statement
For over 30 years, our outstanding volunteers have addressed hunger in the Greater Port Jefferson and surrounding communities. Our soup kitchens have dynamic relationships with individual supporters, local food markets, farm stands, religious institutions, community leaders and local government. Welcome Friends strives to ensure that our guests need not fear the loss of meals. We create a sense of community for neighbors affected by hunger and poverty by serving them with dignity and respect in a safe, hospitable environment.
Description
Welcome Friends provides hot, nutritious meals four days a week in the Greater Port Jefferson community. We typically serve between 50 to 70 guests each night (3,000+ annually!). We are a 100% volunteer staffed organization, so every donation goes directly to serving our neighbors in need.
***We do not serve a meal on Thanksgiving or Christmas***
