Volunteer Merchandiser Position - Thrift Store
Retail Display Experience preferred

This is thrift so our donated merchandise is always different and one of a kind. We need the right person to oversee the display area for our better items. This person must have a good eye for mixing items to blend with the store's overall aesthetic and generate sales.

Work with the department manager to display our selected better merchandise (primarily art, housewares & accessories).

  • Rework display area every week (daytime while store closed M, or Tu)
  • Quick restock and straighten display area (during store hours F or Sa)

This is an ongoing, twice-weekly position - it's lots of fun but requires a good fit.

Mission Statement

Holy Family Ministries We provide opportunities for children and adults from Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods to excel academically, grow spiritually, expand life experiences and become effective leaders Programs of Holy Family Ministries Holy Family School (K-8) Little Learners Academy Preschool Adventures in Learning After-School Program Adventures in Learning Summer Enrichment Lucille (resale store) www.hfm.org

Every year, over 300 at-risk youth enroll in Holy Family Ministries' K-8 school, pre-school, after-school program, and summer enrichment program. Students live in Chicago's most challenged communities and enter Holy Family with a wide range of abilities. Yet, by the time they graduate 8th grade, they are accepted into college-prep high schools across Chicagoland.

Holy Family's resale store, Lucille, will generate new revenue for its youth programs. Proceeds will enable Holy Family to grow its programming and continue to offer its families an affordable tuition based on income. Approximately 75% of the cost of education at Holy Family comes from the support of generous donors and all programs are offered "first-come, first-served" without regard to religion, race, previous academic achievement, or ethnicity.
