Every Dog Behavior and Training

Job Description and Details

Serving on the Every Dog board is an opportunity for incredible people to strengthen the Austin community and improve the lives of its dogs (and people!). Board members are expected to attend and engage in quarterly meetings (and on a regular basis). They’re passionate about the mission, vision, and values, and serve as advocates and ambassadors for Every Dog. They work to identify and secure the financial resources and partnerships needed for Every Dog to meet its goals, and participate actively in independent and collective activities. Board members are advocates for their communities and utilize their unique skills and expertise in service of Every Dog’s mission. Board terms are two years long, and members can serve consecutive terms.

Who We’re Looking For

Potential board members must be:

  • Ready to jump in and get involved in fundraising, partnerships, and community development.
  • Someone who LOVES working with people and can meet them where they are. This includes a strong emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Honesty, constructive feedback, and a big sense of humor.
  • Dog lovers- but no expertise needed!
  • Problem solvers who love finding creative solutions.

What we’d love:

  • Experts in fundraising, development, public relations, non-profit board experience, non-profit legal, financial/CPA, social work, affiliated with important local partners/organizations, etc
  • BIPOC, especially Spanish-speaking. We’re dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to resources, which means including representative voices and having them drive our efforts in these communities. Dog training as an industry is very white, and we’d like to change that.
  • Experience in community outreach within marginalized or under-resourced communities

Description

We have a vision for a time when professional, ethical (and fun!) dog training and behavior support is accessible for all of Austin's dogs (and their people). We're all about reaching the thousands of dogs in our area who don't typically receive professional behavior support, often due to finances, accessibility, or lack of awareness. We provide free training resources and low-cost training classes and private sessions. We offer Spanish language training options, and collaborate with local ethical trainers.

Our Values

  • We play well with others.
  • We're honest.
  • We're total behavior nerds.
  • We always train without fear or pain.
  • We're real humans who like other humans.
  • We're really excited about accessibility and inclusion.
  • We're professional.
  • We support behavior people
  • We look for gaps to fill.
