Our adult learners
Students in one of our English classes

The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia (LCNV) provides English classes for immigrant adults, empowering them to make measurable improvements in their lives. Using today’s best practices for adult learning and second language acquisition, LCNV offers a variety of classes taught by trained volunteers. LCNV’s classes are inexpensive and offered at various times, making them accessible to the largest number of adults with the most urgent language needs.

LCNV is seeking experienced ESOL teachers to teach beginning-level English classes for adults during Summer 2022. Classes at the Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center will meet 2 times per week, on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from June 22 to July 28. Training, curriculum, support and class aides will be provided.

LCNV is committed to quality instruction as well as to the safety of everyone involved. For all in-person classes, LCNV requires students and volunteers to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Use your skills and knowledge of the English language to make a difference in the lives of immigrants and refugees in our community!
