ORGANIZATION: Bethany Christian Services
Please visit the new page to apply.
We are looking for a volunteer Math tutor who is available for a six month commitment to meet with both these boys (ages 15 and 17) and focus on Math support. Each boy would need at least one, 1-hour session per week. They have been in the U.S. since February of 2021 and are living in a foster home on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. Sessions would take place at the foster home. Ability to speak Spanish would be helpful, but is not necessary.
Their foster mom shared, "Their biggest need is specifically Algebra for math. They also will need help with some basic Chemistry/Physics math too (graphing, scientific equations). The boys have open availability after 3:30pm Mon-Thurs."

Mission Statement
Bethany demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting children, empowering youth, and strengthening families through quality social services.
Description
For refugees fleeing danger, the search for safety can be extremely challenging. And too often, people become numbers in a system that can feel impossible to navigate. That’s why we guide, protect, advocate for, and support refugees. In the U.S., we offer resettlement and continued support services in strategic locations.
Bethany Christian Services' Refugee and Immigrant Services program encompasses adult and family resettlement as well as refugee foster care for Unaccompanied Children and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. Our services for unaccompanied refugee youth include case management, counseling, housing (foster homes, group homes, independent living), classes (New Arrival, Life Skills, driver's training), and volunteer mentoring and tutoring.
