At the Carboncopies Foundation, we believe that the possibilities and opportunities enabled by Whole Brain Emulation (WBE) represent the most promising technological path to overcoming our fundamental limitations as a species.

To achieve WBE, essential advances are needed in neurobiology, neurophysiology, brain imaging, micro- and nanoscale technologies, computational neuroscience, computing hardware, and even the philosophy of mind. We provide peer networks and project opportunities to scientists working on challenges critical to whole brain emulation and recognize that there is a long road ahead of us.

The Carboncopies Foundation is growing and has recently realized there is a need for a specific Department responsible for making sure all our digital tools work as intended and that can lend IT support to other teams when needed. As the Lead of the IT Department you would be part of the Operations Office of the Carboncopies Foundation and join a team consisting of the Leads and Co-Leads of HR and Governance which is led by our COO.

Your initial task as the Lead of our IT Department would be to establish the Department, which would include the following steps:

• Finalize the workstream plan
• Build a team
• Write a 1-year plan for the goals/milestones of the department

Once the Department has been set up you’ll be responsible for managing the department, including:

• Facilitating weekly team calls
• Preparing and giving updates on the state of the department
• Helping recruit and onboard new members to the team when needed
• Update the department’s direction & goals based on the organisation’s needs
• Manage progress toward goals and milestones

The following qualifications and/or experience aren’t required but would be helpful for you in taking on this role:

• ITIL and/or COBIT certification
• Previous experience with IT team management and leadership positions
• Previous experience working with/for a non-profit organization
