Amedisys Hospice of Bedford, NH is offering free, online hospice volunteer trainings to individuals interested in supporting patients during their end of life journey by providing compassionate companionship visits. Topics covered are introduction to hospice and hospice volunteering, caring for the hospice patient, managing spiritual well-being, loss-grief-bereavement, communication skills, and an overview of dementia.
Companionship visits, check-in phone calls, and administrative project support continue to be of utmost importance to our patients nearing end of life. Mission Statement
To provide warm and caring, cost-efficient, quality healthcare services to the patients entrusted to our care.
Description
Amedisys Hospice provides exceptional hospice services to individuals and their families. Hospice is a compassionate form of health care that provides non-curative treatment and comfort to people with a life expectancy of six months or less. This compassionate care is about people helping people, and our team of hospice experts goes to great lengths to help our patients and their loved ones live each day to the fullest. Because we understand that as you approach the end of life, every moment matters.
Volunteers are a very important part of our hospice team. Volunteers provide companionship visits to patients either at home or at a nursing facility. Patients and volunteers have meaningful conversations, play cards, read together, watch movies together and go outdoors to enjoy the warm sunshine. Our volunteers tell us that these visits that they provide to patients are as important to them as they are to the patient.
Please make a difference in the life of a hospice patient by sharing one hour of your time each week. Call Patty Cooper, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at 603-421-0414 or email patricia.cooper@amedisys.com for more information. I guarantee that giving a little of yourself to someone who needs you, will make you feel so good!
