Moveable Feast serves people who live at the intersection between serious chronic illness and
food insecurity. We provide healthy, home-delivered meals with individualized nutrition
counseling, at no cost, to improve the health and quality of life of those we serve. We know that
when a client is food insecure and has a nutrition-sensitive illness, avoidable health costs are
inevitable. Our services get people the right food at the right time, delivered right to their door.
We are seeking volunteers who share a love of dining out and fundraising! Join our Dining Out For Life planning committee to strengthen our impact on local restaurants and our medically tailored meal program. The committee meets the first Wednesday of every month via zoom from 6pm - 7pm to discuss restaurant recruitment, event promotion, and volunteer utilization strategies. Commitment outside of the monthly scheduled meetings may include recruitment of restaurant participation, delivering promotional materials to restaurants, training volunteer Ambassadors, recruiting sponsors or in-kind donations, or other administrative support.
Skills: Fundraising, marketing, creative thinking, persuasive speech, strategic planning. Personal connections to restaurants are of great interest.
About Dining Out For Life (DOFL): DOFL is a one day event in September when restaurants across the state of Maryland donate a percentage of their sales to support our medically tailored meal program.
Moveable Feast works to be an organization diverse in thought, life experience, race, genderidentity, sexual orientation, age, physical and developmental ability, and socioeconomic status.
We seek candidates who will contribute to diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments for our
board, clients, volunteers, and staff. Moveable Feast condemns racism and discrimination in all
its forms and has taken an anti-racist stance that moves beyond mere statements on our
commitment to minimizing negative impacts in the present and future by: denouncing racism;
evaluating policies and practices; and recognizing and dismantling oppressive systems.
We are currently recruiting for diverse leaders with expertise in the following areas:
- Legal
- Public Relations/Marketing/Communications strategy
- Fundraising/Business Development
- Healthcare/Medical Professionals
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
- Food Production

Description
Moveable Feast was founded in 1989 by a group of volunteers delivering home-cooked meals to those living with HIV and AIDS in Baltimore City. The Home Delivered Meals Program was made to not only feed people who were homebound and unable to feed themselves, but also to help break the stigma of the AIDS epidemic and give clients the comfort knowing they were cared for. In the past 30 years, as medical treatment for HIV has dramatically improved, the average age of clients rose. Staff saw a need for healthy food among those living with co-morbid conditions or other critical illnesses (cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, renal insufficiency and those in hospice), so eligibility requirements were expanded. With the guidance of our Registered Dietitians, Moveable Feast has improved the quality of our meals, which are now considered medically-tailored and heart-healthy. Clients are matched with the menu type that best compliments their medical treatment and health goals. We began serving the Eastern Shore in 2001, and in 2020, Moveable Feast home delivered over 499,000 medically-tailored meals to 2,006 clients.
Moveable Feast provides the Home Delivered Meals Program and Medical Nutrition Therapy Program to clients living in Baltimore City and the following counties: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Dorchester, Harford, Howard, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester.
Our Medical Transportation Program serves clients residing in Baltimore City who are living with HIV/AIDS.
