The Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE) program is seeking volunteers to assist in providing information, counseling, and help with Medicare to current and prospective Medicare beneficiaries, families, and caregivers of Polk County. This can be done in person, virtual, or via phone. Volunteers will deliver educational presentations and distribute educational and promorional materials in the community. Additionally, volunteers will educate community partners, recruit for additional volunteers, and assist with general program support. During the assignment these volunteers will learn to protect, detect, and report Medicare fraud and abuse.
The SHINE program supports the Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ mission by providing free and unbiased health insurance counseling through a dedicated network of volunteers, empowering Florida seniors to make informed health care choices.
