Students need you!!!

Mentoring is to provide a child or youth with an adult companionship and opportunities that may not be otherwise available to them. In turn, kids will build character and trust, self-worth, confidence, life-skills, respect, responsibility, integrity, motivation, direction and enhance overall development.

Mentors are provided an overview of the organization and initial training. Each Mentor is required to do an annual full background check, paid for by PYAP. The Mentors will also be trained on the Optima Case Management system.

Once initial paperwork, trainings and background check are completed, the Mentor will be matched with a PYAP child/youth. Once matched, the youth and Mentor will participate in a 6-week structured mentoring group. During this weekly structured mentoring time, all activities will be provided. This is a time to allow the mentor and mentee to work together, get to know one another, and help the mentee learn more about themselves. After the 6-weeks, the Mentor and Mentee will meet at events, sporting or school events, activities in the community or at PYAP location.

Mentors are asked to volunteer for one hour, once a week, for one year.
