The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all SFAR programs have sufficient volunteers to meet their needs. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the volunteer program including recruitment, training, data management, task management, scheduling, and support. They must be able to easily discuss SFAR's mission, programs, and services to the public.
* Actively recruit volunteers through use of the website, print media, community calendars, public speaking, and attendance at community meetings and events
* Prepare for, schedule, and run monthly volunteer orientations
* Meet with prospective volunteers to assess skills, availability, and interest and find appropriate opportunities based on the volunteer’s and organization’s needs
* Develop and implement a volunteer orientation program * Ensure appropriate support and training for volunteers
* Develop and implement a volunteer recognition program

Our mission is to provide refuge for senior animals and animals needing hospice care. We aim to provide education, assistance and support to the public to help people better understand and care for their companion animals. We do more than just rescue, we DRIVE change.
Description
Strawberry Fields Animal Rescue Illinois is a registered 501(c)(3) senior animal rescue serving the Chicagoland area. Senior animals in shelters are most at risk for euthanasia and are often times overlooked. At SFAR we believe all senior animals deserve to live out the rest of their lives in comfort and peace. After two years of hard work and dedication the board of directors came together and the rescue started to take off. SFAR is 100% foster based. SFAR not only rescues senior animals but also strives to educate the public about animal welfare and animal health. We believe rescue and education go hand in hand. SFAR would not function without the help of volunteers. We are still a young organization and are still building our organizational capacity. We are working hard to build a volunteer network so that we have the ability to save more animals. As we grow, we need people like you - who can help illustrate the work that we do each day and can highlight the impact that we have on the animals and the overall community. We need you. We need your brilliance, your drive, your expertise and your passion. It goes without saying that your support in this role would help build the foundation we need to reach new programmatic heights.
