Project Hawai’i, Inc. is an award-winning volunteer staffed nonprofit organization solely supported by public donations. Our Christmas team has been providing the wonders of Christmas to homeless children for over 20 years to assure that every child feels the love of the holidays.
We provide homeless children on the islands of O'ahu, Maui and the Big Island of Hawai'i with their Santa Gift, a meal and their stocking. The stockings are a special part of Christmas for a children who is living in poverty situations, such as a tent or a car. They have no holiday traditions, they don't get ready for Santa's arrival on Christmas Eve by hanging their stockings. Most of the time the children won't even know it is Christmas at all. All they know is that Santa doesn't come to them, they won't have the fun stories to share at school with their classmates.
When our homeless children receive their stockings filled with personal hygiene, healthy snacks and fun activities to help them stay active over the long break, their hearts are filled with LOVE. They can't believe Santa made them a special stocking all their own. They can't believe they were found when they thought they were lost along the waters edge or high in the mountains away from everything.

You can bring this joy! You can fill a heart with love by sewing stockings for these precious little boys and girls.

The stockings do not need to be as large as the store bought stockings. We suggest you cut them to maximize the fabric width/length rather than having extra. I am not a sewer, so not sure the exact measurement. So, if one yard can make be folded to make 4 stockings and they are a bit smaller than the store that is fine.

You can use your own creativity and decorate each one, or just make a simple stocking. You choose the fabric/style in any NON denominational Christmas print. Reds/Greens/ Child style prints are best.
We do use the HANGING LOOP to attach their name and easier for us to deliver with the tag LOOP.

This helps create the awareness that everyone can make a difference during the holidays for a homeless child. Awareness of the crisis our children face is the key to helping to end the cycle. There are homeless children all over the world, and many people just don't think they can make a difference. We love to share the awareness and have others take the inspiration as well.
