WHAT: Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services (www.oyhfs.org) is putting together their annual fundraising event, Mentors Award Gala, and we need volunteers to help the night of the event. This is an in-person event. All volunteers must wear a mask and be fully vaccinated. Social distancing and all other recommended guidelines will be encouraged.
It is one of the most talked about fundraisers for the organization and draws 200+ business executives, philanthropists, community members, and city officials. This year we will celebrate two heroes who have significantly made a difference in the lives of children and it is going to be FUN! This event will be indoors and outdoors. It will follow all recommended county, state and CDC safety protocols.
WHEN: Thursday October 20, 2022. Volunteers needed from 4pm - 10pm
WHERE: Taglyan Complex, 1201 Vine St., Los Angeles, CA 90038
PARKING: Provided
DRESS CODE: This is a "cocktail attire" event, which means guests are going to be dressed up!
Volunteers can wear the following:
- Nice black pants, nice black shirt, nice comfortable shoes
(no flip flops, sandals, or tennis shoes) - Black dresses or skirts can be worn
- Nothing too revealing

Description
OYHFS is committed to giving all children the chance at a bright future, which they so rightly deserve. In combining therapy, education and a nurturing residential living environment, we provide the specialized care and unbounded love and understanding needed by each and every child. Optimist cares for probation and foster youth in our residential program, with five sites throughout Los Angeles County. We also operate a Community Mental Health program, a Foster Family and Adoption program, and as of 2020, a Temporary Shelter Care program for under-sheltered young girls. At Optimist, futures begin here, starting with a home, a family and hope.
