We need historians who are trained and knowledgeable in standard historical methods for collecting and documenting history. These volunteers are critical to our mission to enrich our community through the preservation, interpretation, and dissemination of collected local history and culture.

Topics are wide-ranging and might include history of local residents and their families, businesses, historic buildings, and cultural heritage in the Johnstown, CO and Weld County area.

This work is performed mostly through online research, but may include personal visits to locations and/or phone calls and site visits to gain information that supports the research process.

About Johnstown Historical Society, Ltd.

Location:

701 Charlotte Street, Johnstown, CO 80534, US

Mission Statement

The Johnstown Historical Society enriches our community through the preservation, interpretation, and dissemination of collected local culture.

Description

The Johnstown Historical Society was founded in 1988 to educate the public about Johnstown's unique history and preserve it for future generations. JHS manages the Historic Parish House and Museum at 701 Charlotte Street in Johnstown, Colorado. We have an awesome group of dedicated volunteers and are always looking for new ones to join our teams that perform a variety of tasks to help us with the museum and several great fundraising events each year.

A few of our events are the annual (20 years!) and very well attended Stitches in Time Quilt and Craft Fair, our History and Mystery Cemetery Crawl, and Holiday open house and wreath/tree auction. We're also expanding our open days at the museum and are currently seeking a few volunteer docents. We have other volunteer opportunities as well. We'd love to hear from you!
