Partners in Reading Small Group Tutoring

Imagine that you could not read a bedtime story to your child or use a map. Your life would be very difficult.

Help an adult build basic reading, writing, and technology skills by becoming a volunteer adult literacy tutor. Tutor an adult or a small class in basic skills. The life you change my be your own.

Attend a tutor orientation to learn more and then two Saturday trainings. The orientation will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 . The trainings will be on January 8 and January 22. All sessions will be at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library.


  • Be 18 or over
  • Have excellent reading and writing skills
  • Have a high school diploma or a GED
  • Commit to 6 months or more of tutoring
  • Complete all training sessions
  • Pass a fingerprint clearance
  • Attend orientation and training sessions
  • Be comfortable using technology
  • Report on tutoring progress each month
  • Be flexible and have a sense of humor
