Hampden Family Center is looking for a couple of dedicated and passionate volunteers to join our young people in our After School Enrichment Program back to the Center.

The After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) at Hampden Family Center (HFC) offers programming to children grades 1-5. Young people join us Monday through Thursday after school for enrichment activities including but not limited to coding, art, gardening, board games, sports, and varying projects as they develop creativity, confidence, and fellowship in the community.

We are currently seeking volunteers to support our in-person program at the Family Center. At the Center, you will have the opportunity to engage with young people in the Hampden Community in a positive and energy-filled atmosphere.

For more information on Hampden Family Center and our programming that supports the whole family please see our website: https://hampdenfamilycenter.org/

Requirements:

  • Preferred but not required: experience working with young people.
  • Volunteers must be 18 or older.
  • Review and sign a copy of our volunteer handbook.
  • Complete fingerprinting and a background check. Once onboarded, volunteers will receive reimbursements for fingerprinting and background check fees.
  • Complete an online orientation.
  • Complete an interview with Programming staff. (This is informal, but an opportunity for us to get to know you!)
  • Have the availability to commit one day a week (M-Th) from at least 3-5pm.

Thank you for considering this opportunity! Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Hampden Family Center is to enrich the lives of Hampden residents through education and professional support, and to encourage individual growth and community fellowship.

Description

The Family Center has served as a "hub" for community activities in Hampden for 25 years. We provide programs and support services for all who live, learn and work in the community. Here, children enjoy after-school and summer enrichment programs. Adults can participate in literacy classes to brush up on their math, reading and writing skills in preparation for the GED class and exam. And seniors from the community can enjoy monthly lunches with their peers. In addition, we offer emergency and benefit assistance programs.
