The Portsmouth Historical Society is extremely excited about our 2022 exhibition, Imagine That! The Power of Picture Books. The exhibition will display original artwork by beloved children's book illustrators from New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. Imagine that! will explore the imaginary worlds in picture books and the journeys they take us on. Public programs, workshops, hands-on activities, book making, story hours, lectures, and so much more will inspire visitors of all ages. Volunteers will work creatively with families and children and help them interpret artwork for visitors.

The Portsmouth Historical Society is a place where we share history, culture, and art with our community and visitors.

Description

The Portsmouth Historical Society has two buildings and one gallery. We are a visitor center, historical house museum, gallery of several exhibitions each season. We are open seasonally from April through December. We are seeking volunteers for our gallery, historical house, and welcome center. We provide walking tours, house tours, art, local information and events, history of Portsmouth.

  • There is some time commitments to this exhibit and programs but there are options on the survey that will let us know what your interests and availability are.
