ORGANIZATION: International Relief Teams

"Feeding San Diego's Kids" is a weekend food assistance program hosted by International Relief Teams (IRT) for schoolchildren who have been identified as low income. Their goal is to pick up where the school lunch program leaves off by providing a consistent nutritious food source for Saturday and Sunday. They currently offer weekend packs filled with food for low income schoolchildren (and their families) at six elementary schools in the San Diego area.

IRT delivers food to their participating schools each week during the Fall and Spring semesters, excluding holidays and summer breaks. As a volunteer you would arrive at the IRT office at 9:00am on Thursdays, and it will generally take about 2 hours to load and deliver all the packs using your personal vehicle.
