Project Hawai’i, Inc. is a volunteer staffed nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers to help homeless children succeed. We are seeking individuals, groups, clubs, classrooms, etc. to help us collect pennies to provide the homeless keiki (children) with their basic needs.
All our programs are run 100% by public donations so every penny really does make a difference.

Throughout the year we conduct several collections and fundraisers where people can give their extra pennies. Some apologize saying "that is all I can give" while others wish us good luck and throw in their pennies.

  • Here is an example of what Penny's can do:
100 pennies can provide a bottle of shampoo to keep a homeless child clean all month
150 pennies can provide a healthy snack for a child to make it through the day without hunger pains
2,000 pennies can provide a sleeping bag to a homeless child who sleeps on the floor of his tent.

Those pennies really do make a difference and we have collected hundreds of dollars in pennies to help support the needs of our homeless keiki.
Furthermore, many companies out there match their employees donations, so if you work for a company that matches donations, fill out the simple form and double your efforts!!
This provides our general funding needed to provide monthly outreach to the hundreds of homeless children we are each month. We need YOU to host a fundraiser because without these needed funds, these children go without the simple life necessities.
On Maui we have 157 homeless children living in cars across the island, moving from park to park.
On O'ahu we have 386 homeless children living in tents across the waters edge or high in the mountains.
On Big Island we have 408 homeless children spread out to the most remote areas of the island far from many resources.
You do make the difference with a SIMPLE way to have your friends and family help with pocket change.

To get started please send the following information so we can get your personal page up and running. We do have different options depending on how you wish to conduct your fundraising efforts. 1. We can create a personal fundraising page with a goal chart that allows your supporters to easily donate online. This page can be shared on social media, emails, etc. 2.We have Venmo or Cash app that can be shared easily as well. 3. We can create a poster to hang at work or to hand out with the information to donate along with your goal information.
4. If your group, class, or such would like to even set up a jar in the room for a week, or at an office, etc. This is a great way for staff to empty the spare change from the day. CHOOSE A GOAL: 1. Feed a Child $7. 2. Keep Homeless Keiki Clean and Healthy $15. 3. Covid Kokua $10.
4. Choose your own. (especially if for a holiday, Easter Meal, Spring Break Meal.) From the above goals, please decide how many children you would like to sponsor. For example, choosing 10 children would be the overall goal of raising $70. $150 or $100... etc. This allows you to have a goal to allow people to choose. Depending on how many connections you have, most people can sponsor 50 children easily. (you are not obligated to reach your goal)SO NOW... 1. Email me your name and island or mainland. (if this is a group, club, company, please include the name for the heading along with a logo if needed) 2. What plans you have and what platforms above would work best for you. 3. What your goal is, and how many children to sponsor. 4. The time frame you wish to conduct your event. For example if you are looking for specific dates, or a holiday, etc. 5. Please send a photo of your group, child, or anything you would like us to add to the page. This makes it very personal when sharing. Here is an example of our landing page for current pages. https://www.helpthehomelesskeiki.org/community-fundraising-charts We will send you your personal page link as well that you can share with your family and friends.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to enhance the lives of homeless children while teaching them the life and social skills they need to succeed!

Description

Project Hawai’i, Inc. is an award-winning volunteer staffed nonprofit that provides services to over 1,600 individual homeless children annually across the islands of O'ahu, Maui and the Big Island of Hawai'i. The nonprofit strives to change the lives of children by providing a sense of stability through interactive programs, including educational summer camps, holiday events, school support, and educational training. Additionally, the nonprofit provides monthly outreach support to assure that children are supplied with healthy meals, personal hygiene care, and emergency services.

Since the foundations inception in 2003, we are proud to announce we have successfully helped over 2,000 homeless children escape and BREAK their cycle of poverty as they continue to build their families with a strong foundation.

In Hawaii, there are over 23,000 children living in substandard and homeless situations.

Our mission is to help end the cycle of poverty for Hawaiian Children (keiki)
