The Salvation Army Booth Manor Senior Housing Facility (1421 Yale Place Minneapolis) is in need of volunteers to help each 1st or 3rd Friday of the month with unloading a large food delivery for an internal food distribution event. Volunteers will need to be able to lift, carry, and unpack food boxes averaging 25-40 lbs for the duration of the shift. Additional duties include: rearrange and set up of chairs, give out numbers and record names on sign up sheet, Organize residents by number and call names when its time to shop, clean up and put chairs back.

Volunteers will need to be available 1-2 times each month for at least 3 months; a background check is required prior to first shift.

Description

The Salvation Army offers social services and recreational programs with the goal of addressing specific physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each family, individual, child/youth, or elderly person. Services provided include, but not limited to: emergency food shelves, school supply programs, rental/utility assistance, educational programs, outreach to the homeless, family and youth camping, community center programs, Christmas assistance programs, nursing home visitations, corrections programs, and disaster services.
